It was July 2013 and was looking for something new. Had a friend at work (no longer works with me) who played Eve as a miner as I was still playing World of Warcraft. He told me to go onto Youtube and look at some videos and check some webpages to see if it was what I wanted.
After a while, I liked what I saw and in August I started Morgan here. I wanted to go into wormholes right away but my friend laughed and told me to join Eve University and start getting used to the game. I knew Eve University took their time in recruiting so after an hour after character creation, I was sitting in a wormhole (no clue what class) looking at everything in absolute wonder floating in my Probe (Winmatar baby!). Of course, I warped to the sun trying to figure out what was in there...and yes, I did bookmark the exit. Unknown to myself, the hole was EoL (end of life) and it closed while I was in there. So, I got my fill of curiosity after an hour or so and decided to head back out, only to land in deadspace with NO wormhole exit present.
I f***ing panicked. I called my friend at work and was almost balling that I was lost in a wormhole. I was not cloaked since I didn't have the skill yet. After he stopped laughing, he told me to scan down an exit. After composing myself, I scanned down two exits and warped to the first one. As I landed on it and started my approach, another ship landed almost next to me. I screamed in real life and almost wet my pants as I ran from this unknown (and still unknown, I didn't know what ship landed there) ship and took the exit as fast as my Probe could take me. Luckily, I was jumping into a new highsec system, 43 jumps from where I was. Yeah, I got hooked.
So after waiting 3 weeks in their stupid damn queue, I finally got my interview and was accepted into Eve University. I then immediately asked when I could go to the Wormhole Campus, in which they told me I had to wait a minimum of six weeks and get promoted to Sophomore. So I spent the next six weeks scanning down and exploring wormholes while waiting for my promotion.
Well, I didn't get it because my killboard was pretty much blank, which they said I wasn't active enough. I waited two more weeks after being in their lowsec campus evading everyone and still no promotion. I said to hell with them and joined a C2 wormhole corporation. What that corporation failed to mention is they went from C2 to C5...so I was a 1.2m sp newbie pilot in a C5 doing absolutely nothing but train skills and mine gas when I could.
Have pretty much done everything but nullsec living, and been thinking of that. I have never regretted anything I have done and even after 3 years I still love this game.
This would cure me of the fear...
CCP Explorer liked you forum post. Now my life is complete...
